Posters from Past Expos

International expos have been held for over 100 years since the end of the 19th century.
The excitement felt by visitors to these remains the same to this day, but the themes have gradually evolved over time.

For example, the theme of the Expo ’70 Osaka was “Progress and Harmony for Mankind.”
At the Expo ’75 Okinawa, the theme was “The sea we would like to see.”
At the Tsukuba Expo ’85, the theme was “Dwellings and surroundings – Science and Technology for Man at Home.”
The theme of the Expo 2005 Aichi was “Nature’s Wisdom.”

The theme of the Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai will be “Designing Future Society for Our Lives.”
What should we take from this and what should we communicate to others?

At the former site of the Osaka Expo, “Expo ’70 Commemorative Park” features the “EXPO ’70 Pavilion,” a museum showcasing documents and exhibits from the 1970 Osaka Expo. The park is also home to the Tower of the Sun, which is designed by Taro Okamoto. The inside of the Tower of the Sun is open to the public and allows visitors to learn about what the Expo was like at the time.
